4th Thursday Women’s Book Club

You are welcome to join in our discussion of the historical fiction book LILAC GIRLS by Martha Hall Kelly on Thursday, May 24th, at 7:00 pm in the Fireside Room at Faith Lutheran Church. The author follows three women through the course of WWII and beyond.  In Lilac Girls, Martha Hall Kelly has crafted a remarkable novel of unsung women and their quest for love, freedom, and second chances.  It is a story that will keep readers bonded with the characters, searching for the truth, until the final pages.  We’re not a book club – we discuss chapter by
chapter.  We’re more a group study with reading assignments
usually a chapter at a time. Our books are not fiction, but usually lessons learned for living out our calling as Children of God.

We meet as a group of women for the purpose of reading a book together.  The bonus outcome is that we become friends and share our own life stories as they relate to the current author’s story.  Our desire is to remain a “small group”, but we always have room for one or two more and the start of a new book is a great time to jump in.

Age Range: Moms with kids ranging from babies through high school

Days/Time:  Thursday Mornings in the Fireside Room from 9:30-11:00am (starting January 11th.)

Cost: $15 for Hardcover Book

Childcare: Childcare available Thursday mornings with pre-registration for $5/family.

Description: This weekly group is for any 20-40 something-aged woman looking to build Christian friendships and to deepen spiritual growth.  We will be studying, “Daring Greatly” by Brene Brown. “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. Cultivate: A Grace-Filled Guide to Growing an Intentional Life by Lara Casey

Days/Time:  Monday Nights from 7:00-8:30pm at Faith in the Fireside Room.

Women often feel like they have to have it all together in order to live a meaningful life. Instead they feel inadequate, overwhelmed, and exhausted as they try to figure out how to do it all. Author, business owner, and mom to three Lara Casey offers sound and grace-filled advice: “We can’t do it all, and do it well. But, we can choose to cultivate what matters.”
