Summer Stretch & YouthWorks Mission Trips UPDATE:
We are working on combining these two experiences into one grand service opportunity in our own Waconia community! YouthWorks is offering a “Hometown Trip” option which includes YouthWorks staff coming to us. We are checking to see if there are any openings available in August. If we can’t plan something with YouthWorks, we will plan our own “Hometown Mission Trip.” We invite you all to join us as we help those struggling in our own community, especially during this difficult time. Let this be a reminder to us all that even though we are living through a crisis, we are still called to serve and love our neighbors. As more details are available, we will be in touch!
YOUTH MISSION TRIP UPDATES BELOW
Hello everyone,

Thank you for your patience during these unpredictable times. Unfortunately, I have heard from YouthWorks that both our scheduled trips for this summer have been cancelled. We are certainly saddened by this news, but ultimately, we want what is best and safest for our students. Please see the link below for YouthWorks’ statement on Covid-19: https://youthworks.com/covid-19-updates/

Firstly, the church will issue refunds to everyone who has made payments for a summer trip. I am working with Mike on that and I will reach out to everyone individually this week.

Secondly, we do have a couple of options for this summer that I am excited about!  Overall, our plan is to combine mission trips and Summer Stretch. YouthWorks is offering a “Hometown Trip” option which includes YouthWorks staff coming to us and doing service work in our own community. I am going to reach out to YouthWorks this week and see if there are any openings available in August.

Shannon and I will keep everyone updated as we plan summer activities, but we are also interested in hearing from all of you! If you know of a business or non-profit in Waconia or a neighboring community that might need help, please let us know! Also, if you have any concerns about health or safety, feel free to send me a message.

Our staff at Faith Lutheran is here for all of you as we move forward from spring into summer. I know it will take a little bit of creativity, but ultimately I know we are going to have a wonderful summer, praising God and serving one another!
