SPARK 3 year old – 4th grade

PreK – Kindergarten classes

meet in the same classroom with the same teacher(s) each week.  The curriculum is planned so that the lesson is presented in three ways during the three week unit – but the lessons rotate from classroom to classroom – the children always return to the familiar room and teachers.

What is it? Why does it matter?

SPARK is essentially Sunday School, but it doesn’t meet just on Sundays anymore.  Sunday School and Wednesday school are alike and we have named them by an acronym SPARK – Scripture, Prayer and Relationships for Kids.
PreK – Kindergarten SPARK and SPARK for grade 1-4 meet simultaneously.  In both the Bible stories are presented in three week units.

For Elementary SPARK (grades 1-4)
the children are divided into groups.  Each group rotates throughout the three weeks – one week in the Drama room, one week in the Art room and one week in the Kitchen for Cooking.  A shepherd becomes a part of the group as the leader and rotates with the children who meet a different teacher in each of the classrooms.

Families can choose to enroll in SUNDAY SPARK or WEDNESDAY SPARK.  On Sunday mornings at either 8:30 or 10:00 am.  Sunday SPARK always begins in the sanctuary with children worshipping with their parents for the first part of the service.  They leave together and have some “children’s church” in the Community room prior to leaving for classrooms.  Wednesday SPARK meets from 5:00 until 6:00 pm.  They being in large group for some “children’s church” and then go to classrooms to dig in for learning.  Wednesday Prime Time worship begins at 6:07 pm.
