Meet Katie Escalante

“I love summer camp!” stated Katie Escalante during a recent interview with Richard Scott, Vice Chair of the Call Committee. “It provides a loving atmosphere where kids can play games, sings songs, sit around a camp fire, have fun, make new friends and strengthen bonds with existing ones. Summer camp exposes young people to Christianity in an approachable way.” Katie first became involved with the Church when her best friend invited her to attend Spirit of the Pines camp the summer of third grade. Summer camp became a highlight every year for Katie, and in seventh grade she went on her first mission trip to Duluth, MN through Youth Works program. This was when she first felt the call to ministry. She became a camp counselor in 9th grade and started to teach Sunday school during the school year. She fell in love working with kids, and discovered that she had a genuine gift for youth ministry. During her junior year of high school, she partnered with her mother to lead the Alpha Small Group Ministry program, where she discovered she also had a gift working with adults. Stay tuned to learn more about our next Associate Pastor, Katie Escalante.
