Education Hour: Local Homelessness
Did you know that homelessness is becoming a serious problem in Scott and Carver counties? Did you know that more children than ever are experiencing homelessness in our counties? Do you want to learn what you can do to help stop homelessness? Come to our educational hour, February 5th @ 9.30am in the North Conference Room.
SOUPER BOWL of CARING Today – hosted by B.Y.G.
Today the 5th, 6th and 7th grade students of B.Y.G. are hosting a fundraiser for the Waconia Area Food Shelf. Please place cans of soup in the shopping cart. Donations of money will be collected in large soup kettles in the entry after worship.
All proceeds will go to OUR FOOD SHELF.
Our eight year total for Souper Bowl of caring is: $5195 and 228 cans of food.
This month’s education for Faith Lutheran Stephen Ministers will be a recap of the recent presentation given by Father Tim Powers on "Bumping into God outside of Church". We will meet at our regular date and time Tues., Feb. 7th at 7 pm) but we will gather at Jane and Paul Christopher’s home, 1583 Niagara St. See you there!
Bible Study Series: Praying the Bible
Come and join Pastor Travis for a series focused on reading the Bible with “more soul.” This Bible study will meet Wednesday, February 8th and 15th @ 6:30pm in Bayview Elementary School. You are invited to attend the whole series or just a single session. Hope to see you there!
MARDI GRAS – Pancake Breakfast / February 12th HERE!
- Mark your calendars NOW for the MARDI GRAS Celebration on Sunday morning, February 12th from 9:00 am until
12:30 pm.
- This is a fundraiser for our youth who will attend the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans during July
- Mardi Gras traditionally stands for a period of celebration from Epiphany to the day before Lent.
- We are familiar with the secular celebrations in New Orleans which makes this a VERY appropriate event for this gathering.
- There will be do it yourself FAITH shirts to spray paint, Beaded Bible Bookmarks, & other fun along with GOOD FOOD
Baptism Class Offered
Considering baptism?
On Thursday, February 16, at 6:30pm a class will be held in the North Conference Room, focusing on the rite of Holy Baptism and how it is lived out in one’s life. Childcare can be provided if requested when registering with the church office 952-442-2101.
There are still many spots available for voting members at the 2012 Synod Assembly, which will be held February 17-18 (Friday and Saturday) in Prior Lake. If you are interested in the mission and diverse ministries of our Minneapolis Area Synod, please consider attending this important event! The Waconia United Food Shelf is in need of additional volunteers for the Thursday, 4:00-7:00 pm shift. Ideally, we would like to add three new volunteers. Blood Drive Tuesday, March 6th
At Faith Lutheran Church (800 Waconia Parkway N, Waconia, MN) on Tuesday, March 6th from 12:00-7:00pm. Memorial Blood Center provides all the blood needed at Waconia Ridgeview Medical Center. Donating blood only takes about an hour. What a great way for our community to come together for the good of others! All blood types are in critical need right now so please consider donating blood now. You could help save a life!
